Perseverance is Key to Success.
One of the most effective strategies for anyone to deal with a difficult exam is perseverance in the study. Most students procrastinate when it comes to answering test questions because they fear they might fail, which then causes them to procrastinate on other aspects of the test and schoolwork as well. Students can learn how to prevent this from happening, by applying perseverance in the study. The main key to perseverance in a study is simply by being persistent and not giving up no matter what. Following are some tips that will help you in applying perseverance in study towards your goal.
Perseverance in the study may mean different things to different people, but basically, it all boils down to answering the question with a hundred percent certainty and passing the test in the first place. In order to be able to do this, you have to start with the right attitude. Even before you enter the examination room, you should already be prepared and focused. For example, write down everything about the test, including what you will have to do, when you will do it, and why you will do it.
Perseverance has a few tricks up its Sleeve
Avoid negative thinking. This means avoiding all types of negative thoughts, including those that bring negative consequences to you. Also, do your best not to get nervous or anxious beforehand. This is the same way as getting nervous before an exam. You can also try to calm yourself down by picturing yourself doing well, which also brings perseverance in the study.
Write down everything about the test, even the way you will answer the test. In this way, it will be easier for you to answer the questions, and you won’t feel as though you have been tested for the knowledge you already know. If there are topics you are unsure of, do your best to find out the answers to these questions, so you can eliminate needless doubts. It is important also to be very careful with your listening skills. Listening correctly to questions will determine how well you do in the test.
When taking the test, do your best not to pass the first time you stand up. Doing so will likely be viewed as a lack of perseverance in the test. By making it harder on yourself, it makes you appear like you don’t want to do your work. Instead, take small steps to increase your confidence while taking the test.
Get a friend to be your examiner. If there are other people who would like to take the test with you, then get one of them as your examiner. Have your friend repeat the questions and show you how you should react when certain situations occur. You could also watch their every move to see how they do with the test. You can also use the same questions to gauge your own progress. There are a lot of websites where you can find copies of test questions; you can use these to gauge your own perseverance in the study.
Persistence in a study is not something that can be done in a day or a week. It needs dedication, patience, persistence, and a lot of perseverance. You will probably spend hours in front of the computer trying to answer one question after another until finally, you feel like giving up. But if you don’t give up, then you might just get it eventually. Good luck!
